I recently purchased Kubota spray paint from a Kubota dealer for $9.95 a can. Does any one know of another brand that will match? There are two oranges, I need the newer bright orange. There is also two different grays.

Steve, we have looked for a paint that is a better value than the Kubota's because the cost is high if you don't consider everything. There cans go a long way, more so than the ones we have experimented with. The color holds longer and it does spray easily. ....

The Kubota paint at TSC is 3.99 a can and is the same size as the high price stuff sold by the dealer. The only problem is that neither brand match worth a squat nor do they dry glossy. I don't know who is mixing paint but they need to be fired. I could deal with a touch off color but when it dries flat with NO gloss is what tee's me off. Never put the stuff on hoods or fenders unless you want it to look like paint butchered CRAP. I have seen graffitti on train cars glossy-up better than Kubota's paint. The Kubota gray dries flat without gloss too. Seems these colors were meant for the military.

I completely disagree. The Kubota spray paint works fantastic. It matches well and it definatly does gloss up! The trick is to do exactly what the can says. Heat it up first, I put it in a pail warm water. Then put on many LIGHT coats about 20 minutes apart(usually takes about 4 or 5. If you put the paint on too heavy or to fast it will not gloss up... ....

Heat it up in a pail of water?????? Don't you think if I paint in the summer when its 85 degrees outside that would be enough heat??? Spray painting out of a can ain't rocket science. I sanded first sprayed a tack coat and come back an hour or so later and it still DRIES FLAT. I don't think I should have to fire up my compressor and use my Binks car spray gun to get a gloss!!!! Rustoleum glosses better than their 10 bucks a can crap. The Gray paint is just as bad. Don't use it guys, I tried 2 cans and the result was the same, plus it is a shade off even under the fender where the sun wouldn't fade the original pain. The factory spray cans are VOODOO Kubota paint. ....

Jeff, I don't know when you tried the Kubota paint but for what it sounds I would be discouraged with it to. But I will tell you it was there older paint that you had the trouble with. We do not put the paint in a bucket of warm water,my help would laugh at those instructions for paint. We do have a good gloss and a good match. I'm sure you are happy with your Tru-value paint as I use it at home. It doesn't carry as well as the newer Kubota paint and it doesn't spray the volumne of the factory paint at this time. Now they might switch to another vendor some day to try to get closer to a retail price of 3.99 and naturally I would expect to get less again. ....

Just for clarification, the Kubota paint cans recommends warming the can 75 to 80 degrees although you can spray at 50 or above. Since most of my touchup work is at end of the fall when I prep my tractor for winter it isn't that warm outside. For what it is worth, it does help.. ....

Kylon chevy engine paint matchs the best I have found. That is for the newer kubota. TSC's paint is not a match either.
I painted the wheel weights we cut out of 3.5inch thick steel with it ....

I just added a 60" piece of 3/8 by 3" steel to my FEL bucket and welded my hooks to it. after i got it all welded on i painted it with kubotas orange II . you would think the piece with hooks was installed at the facory!!
I also sprayed a little in a cup and touched up some scratches on my hood. i used a little brush to do it . covered great!!
The only thing i can complain about kubota paint is the cost!! ....

Jeffr,

There's a guy on ebay who has been selling lots of bogus Kubota paint in the Bright Orange II color. I think he's sold hundreds of cases of the stuff and he knows it's no good. The paint he's selling in large volumes is like an orangish brown and it's flat, not glossy at all. It doesn't match the Kubota paint. We got him kicked off of ebay for selling grey market paint but he's back on again.

Don't buy Kubota paint from a guy in Kansas on ebay, he's got bogus paint. The way you can tell it's bogus, the labels don't have bar codes on them, real paint from Kubota dealers has the bar codes. ....
